Chocolate Porridge
I love porridge and adding cocoa to it can only make it taste that much more delicious! The cocoa powder creates a luxurious feeling of comforting chocolaty goodness here, but without all the sugar and saturated fat we'd get from actually adding chocolate to the mix. So this is a decadent-yet-good-for-you breakfast, full of good carbohydrates and fats. If you want to take it to the next level and add even more antioxidants, use cacao powder instead – the raw version of cocoa powder.
This recipe is dairy-free and vegan. If you have a gluten allergy (like I do) make sure you get gluten-free oats. This porridge is incredibly simple, requiring just 6 ingredients, 10 minutes, and 1 pot to prepare. I hope you love it!
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, I just love it.
It is so important to start the day with something delicious, satisfying and filling - and oats tick all three boxes!

Ingredients
½ cup oats (I used gluten free oats)
1 tablespoon cacao/cocoa powder
1 cup water
½ tablespoon maple syrup (or sub any sweetener)
A dash of vanilla extract
½ cup milk
Optional Toppings
Chopped fresh fruit such as pears, apples, strawberries or bananas
Chia seeds
Peanut butter
Cinnamon
Coconut flakes
Instructions
Simply add the water, oats, cacao powder, maple syrup and vanilla extract to a saucepan and cook the mixture on a medium heat for 3-5 minutes.
Add the almond milk (or any other milk) to the mix and continue cooking the porridge until it reaches your desired consistency – I love thick, creamy porridge.
Pour it into a bowl, add all your favourite toppings and enjoy your breakfast! I topped mine with pears and raspberries. Delicious!
